xMatix Data Studio

A governed data layer, not another export.

Model reusable data sources, build datasets with dimensions, measures and row-level security, and materialize them into a managed warehouse — refreshed on schedule, governed like the rest of the platform.

IN DEPTH

The data team’s side of the platform.

01 · STAR-SCHEMA DATASETS

Model once, slice honestly

Governed source models and datasets with dimensions, measures and filters — built star-schema so every tool downstream agrees on the numbers. Row-level security travels with the dataset.

Ask Sense: "Which reports use the Orders dataset?"

02 · ROW-LEVEL SECURITY

Warehouse-grade analytics without running a warehouse

Datasets materialize into a managed cloud data warehouse on schedules you set, with validate-and-preview before publish.

Ask Sense: "When did the warehouse last refresh?"
03 · ARCHIVAL THAT STAYS QUERYABLE

Old data moves out of the app, not out of reach

Rule-based archival shifts aged records into warehouse tables — the app stays fast, history stays reportable.

Ask Sense: "Report on FY22 orders — archived or not."

One shield on the Branch dimension protects every dataset that joins through it.
One fact table, shared dimensions — model it once, every dataset agrees.
Row-level security is a property of the dimension, so it can’t be forgotten downstream.
Archived years leave the hot store but never stop answering queries.

FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS

Everything in xMatix Data Studio.

Data Model Builder
Define the data once, reuse it everywhere.
Governed, reusable sources that every dataset builds on — so ten reports don't mean ten definitions of revenue.
Dataset Builder
From raw records to analysis-ready in minutes.
Pick dimensions, measures and filters; the studio shapes the data for you. Security and refresh come along built in.
Star-schema datasets
Data shaped the way analysis wants it.
Facts and dimensions organized so any question runs fast — without a modelling team on staff.
Row-level security
The data knows who's asking.
Each user queries the same dataset and sees only their slice. Rules live with the data, not each report.
Managed cloud warehouse
A data warehouse without hiring for one.
Datasets materialize into a managed cloud warehouse — provisioned, refreshed and maintained for you.
Validate & preview
See the data before you ship it.
Preview results and validate the shape before publishing — surprises stay in the studio, not the boardroom.
Rule-based archival
History moves out, performance moves in.
Ageing records archive to warehouse tables on rules you set — still there for analysis, out of the working system's way.
Scheduled refresh
Numbers that update themselves.
Set the schedule once; every dashboard downstream stays current without anyone pressing refresh.
Report designers fed
Every report draws from the same well.
Banded reports, pivots and dashboards all consume studio datasets — one refresh updates them all.
Governed embedded BI
Share the dashboard, not the database.
Embed approved analytics in other apps and portals from an allowlist — governance travels with it.
05 · COMMON QUESTIONS

The questions evaluators ask.

Do I need a data warehouse to report on this?

No — the warehouse comes managed. Your operational data reshapes into clean, analysis-ready star-schema datasets that materialize into a managed cloud warehouse, provisioned and refreshed on schedule for you. There are no pipelines to build and no servers to babysit; dashboards, pivots and banded reports all draw from the same datasets, so everyone argues about the decision instead of the numbers.

What is the difference between Analytics and Data Studio?

Analytics is where numbers are consumed: dashboards and KPI widgets, print-perfect banded reports, pivots, scheduled email subscriptions. Data Studio is the modelling layer beneath it: governed data models, dataset building, refresh schedules and archival rules that feed everything above. Define revenue once in the studio and every report downstream means the same thing by it. Explore xMatix Data Studio.

Can reports respect the user's record permissions?

Yes — row-level security lives with the data, not with each report. The same dashboard shows a branch manager their branch and a region head their region, automatically; each user queries the same dataset and sees only their slice. Because the rules travel with the dataset, a new report cannot accidentally widen access.

Can I export or connect BI tools?

Approved dashboards publish into other apps and portals through governed embedded BI — what is shared is allowlisted, so nothing leaks that should not. Scheduled subscriptions deliver any report to the team's inbox on a cadence. For ad-hoc slicing, the pivot designer answers most spreadsheet-export impulses in place: drag dimensions and measures until the answer appears, then save the view and it stays live.
